Frogger naming rules

  • p_ prefix in a tensor name indicates this is age stratified by total single year, i.e. same age stratification as total population. At the start of our functions we also define unpacked structs and the prefix here means the unpacking comes from the pars struct (parameters)
  • c_ prefix at the start of a function means we are unpacking the state_curr struct
  • n_ prefix at the start of a function means we are unpacking the state_next struct
  • i_ prefix at the start of a function means we are unpacking the intermediate struct
  • h_ prefix indicates this is age stratified by same age stratification as HIV adult population, this might be single year from 15+ or could be coarse age groups
  • hc_ prefix indicates this is age stratified by the HIV child population
  • hc1_ prefix indicates this is age stratified by child population age 0 - 4
  • hc2_ prefix indicates this is age stratified by the child population age 5 - 14
  • idx_ prefix means this is an index, e.g. idx_hm_elig is the index of the CD4 count at which people are eligible for ART. Note this is not used for prefixing the loop variables
  • Uppercase means this is a dimension of the state space e.g. NS or pAG
  • ts_ prefix means this is a time step
  • hts_ prefix means this is an HIV time step (i.e. a time step of the inner HIV loop)
  • t variable name is reserved for the time step

These prefixes can be merged e.g.

  • p_idx_hiv_first_adult - Is the index of the first age group within singe-year ages to be considered an adult

Rules for unpacking structs

The p_, c_, n_, i_ prefixes correspond to pars, state_curr, state_next, intermediate structs respectively. These will be followed by 2 letters indicating what part we are unpacking:

  • dm - base.demography
  • tx - base.art
  • nh - base.natural_history
  • in - base.incidence
  • op - base.options
  • hc - children, in the case of pars it is children.children and in the case of state_next, state_curr, intermediate it is children
  • ba - base (for intermediate, state_next, state_curr structs)

So for example:

  • p_dm = pars.base.demography
  • p_hc = pars.children.children
  • c_hc = state_curr.children
  • i_ba = intermediate.base

For the StateSpace struct (defined as ss in the code) we use the ss_ prefix with:

  • b - base
  • c - children

so for example:

  • ss_b = ss.base
  • ss_c = ss.children
